Helicopter Flight
Training
OVERVIEW
Helicopter Corp. is a professional, family-owned helicopter business. The flight school is focused on delivering high quality, personalised, and safe flight training services. Our main operating Base in Wallaroo NSW is only a 20-minute drive from Canberra’s CBD.

Our training school offers highly experienced instructors which provide professional and quality training in a safe, supportive, and relaxed environment. We offer training for recreational, private, commercial licences.

In the local area we have over 10,000 acres of low flying terrain, with many challenging confined area and pinnacle landing sites which are great for training. We offer students the ability to learn to fly in a hilly and mountainous area which is unique compared to other flight schools in Australia.

Nearby Canberra International Airport enables you to become proficient with radio and controlled airport procedures. While non-controlled airports such as Tumut, Cootamundra and Moruya are also nearby and available for training.

Our Robinson R44 Raven II Helicopters are well suited for the higher density altitude here in Canberra and the local mountains which rise to 7200ft above sea level.
TESTIMONIAL
I recently completed a few lessons and a Flight Review with Chris at Helicopter Corp. Chris’ instructing and professionalism is second to none. For any students wanting to achieve their licence, or pilots wanting to brush up on their skills, I highly recommend training with Chris. He is upfront, and an incredibly capable pilot and instructor. Thank you for the fantastic experience. Kristen Mary.
PRIVATE PILOTS LICENCE
Becoming a private helicopter pilot with Helicopter Corp. will allow you to fly your friends and family around. You can also fly privately for your own business.
Training in our high performance Robinson R44 Raven II will enable you to have more experience in the four seat helicopter and prepare you for future flights with you and 3 passengers.
There are many options as a private pilot to explore as most of the restrictions for the RPL-H do not apply and you are free to navigate on longer flights. Why now drop in for lunch at a winery and impress your friends. Or, fly to the coast for a swim. These flights must be conducted by day and in visual meteorological conditions (VMC).
Keep in mind that flight training is based on competency. How many hours someone takes to finish the course depends on the aptitude of the student. Another consideration is how many lessons can you fit in per week. If you can train regularly, you will retain competency and progress at a better rate through the training syllabus of lessons.
The minimum hours to achieve an PPL-H is 40 plus your flight test, however it is wise to budget for some extra flight hours in addition to the minimum required.
